As we enter 2023, we begin with our value of putting God First. OWCC will begin with 21 days of prayer and fasting, intentionally seeking God to work in our community, in our city, and in our world.
Join us beginning January 1st, at 8am, for a daily devotional and prayer time!
21 days of prayer questions
-
One of our core values at OWCC is God First - we seek God in all things through prayer and Scripture. What better way to start 2023, together as a community of faith, than praying?
We have a few ways that you can join us in the 21 days of prayer:
(1) Join us daily, 1/1 - 1/21, 8 to 8:30am, for a time of devotion and prayer.
(2) Pray on your own using the above prayer topics.
(3) Consider fasting from something. See resources below. -
For the first 21 days of January we’ll host a Zoom call where OWCC Lead Pastor, Allen Thomas, will lead a 10-15 minute devotional.
After the devotional, there will be 10-15 minutes of praying for a specific topic, provided by an OWCC leader.
During the time of prayer, you can choose to pray out loud or just pray silently in your own way while others pray. -
Fasting simply means to shut, refrain, and/or abstain. In other words and as followers of Jesus, fasting is when we stop doing something or abstain from a certain thing for a period of time. We do this so that we can draw closer to God and depend on him more.
We first see the idea fasting in the book of Exodus when Moses fasts from food and water. And of course we see Jesus fast for 40 days and 40 nights at the beginning of his public ministry.
For us we might fast from eating a certain type of food or fast from drinking a certain type of beverage. Or maybe you’ll decide to fast from social media or TV or certain websites.
Will you consider fasting during the 21 days of prayer to start 2023?
If you do decide to fast, and this is your first time, we encourage you to reach out to us before starting so we can walk alongside you. -

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
2 Chronicles 7:14
